Squad and Red & Black Belt Training 18/19 Jan 2020

The weekend of the 18th and 19th January was a very busy weekend for Swain Taekwon-Do students.  On the Saturday some of our members went to Swindon for National Squad training, and then on Sunday we had Red and Black belt training in Yate with Master Gayle and Master Ogborne.

P.U.M.A. Squad training was held at Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, and was the first squad session of 2020. It was a very chilly morning, and the heating didn’t seem to be on in the hall; but that didn’t stop the P.U.M.A. Squad from making the most of the time.
As a new national coach Mr Swain led the warm-up to try and get all the students there ready to train, and feel their fingers/toes!  This was followed by 3 hours of training; patterns, drills, sparring and fitness!

It was a pleasure to see that as well as Mr and Mrs Swain we had four students from Swain Taekwon-Do there.  What was even more impressive was that Mr Bailey and Mr Bailey jr went straight to London for a 2-hour sparring seminar with Polish National Team Member Mr Michal Dziubicki!

The Sunday was a 2-hour session led by Master Gayle (8th Degree) and Master Ogborne (7th Degree) which covered basic techniques, patterns, kicking and point-stop sparring.  Those training ranged from Red belt, through to 5th Degree Black Belt, and there were around 60 people there.  Mr and Mrs Swain were there, joined by 3 of our students.

It was a great weekend to start 2020, and we are sure things will get better and better!
