On the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of February ITF-England held their AGM training weekend. The weekend included a Squad Development session and Masters Training session and the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Mr and Mrs Swain went along, joined by Mr T Bailey and Mr A Bailey.
On Saturday 22nd the weekend began with a development squad session, led by the ITF-England coaching staff. The session was open to senior colour belts and black belts who were looking to make the National Team, or had already been selected for it. Mr A Bailey was one of 8 or so PUMA students taking part to improve their skills, continuing his journey towards the National Team.
On Sunday there was a 2-hour seminar with three Masters from ITF-England – Master Symonds (7th Degree), Master McKenna (8th Degree, ITF-England President) and Master Anderson (8th Degree). PUMA had 5 members training – 4 from Swain Taekwon-Do! Mr & Mrs Swain, and the Baileys. The session started with a good warm-up from Master McKenna followed by each of the three Masters covering a colour belt pattern or two with their own focus for improvements. The session finished with splitting into grade groups to cover relevant black belt patterns.
The weekend closed with the AGM; a meeting for the board to present their reports from 2019 and plans for 2020. The meeting was very informative, giving a great deal of insight into how ITF-England is run. This included the targets the National Team coaches set themselves, how funds are spent, and initiatives like the ‘Girls Who Kick’ programme. The future looks very bright for ITF-England.
