P.U.M.A. British Championships

Thornbury Leisure Centre played host to the 2021 P.U.M.A. British Championships on 28th November. It was a chilly day near Bristol, but six Swain Taekwon-Do students made the journey for the competition.

The day saw students from across P.U.M.A. and a few other organisations compete across Bo-Staff, Musical Patterns, High Kick, Breaking, Patterns and Sparring. Our six competitors came away with a combined 5 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze medals!

We want to express a big thank you to Mr Swain, Mr T Bailey and Mr A Bailey for giving up their time to officiate at the competition. Each of our students gave a fantastic account for themselves; especially with the additional nerves of this being their first in-person competition in over 2 years for many of them.

In any competition the first opponent is always yourself – by entering, remaining calm and giving it your best you have won that first battle. It is a privilege to also be able to announce the following results:

  • Carys M
    • Patterns – Bronze
  • Ollie W
    • Patterns – Bronze
  • Pippa R
    • Patterns – Bronze
    • Sparring – Silver
  • Emma B
    • Patterns – Bronze
    • Sparring – Gold
    • Power Test – Gold
  • Mr A Bailey
    • Patterns – Gold
    • Sparring – Gold
  • Mr T Bailey
    • Bo Staff – Gold
    • Patterns – Bronze
    • Sparring – Bronze

Dates for competitions in 2022 have already been booked in, and it would be great to see even more students competing next year!
